Introduction:
With Easter/Resurrection Sunday now in our rear view mirror by 2 weekends, I want us to think about what’s next? What happens after ‘the event.’ What do we do know? Where do we go? What should I believe? Who should I follow?
This is part of the ‘dilemma’ that the disciples and Christ followers were faced with.
Three points for consideration this morning:
Before you determine where your ‘journey’ will take you
, you must first know where you’re at.
I.
Where I’m At – 24:13-26
Question
: Where are we at today? What is our condition? What are our ‘hang ups’? What is causing us to doubt? Why are we being/acting/living so sadly and without faith?
Illustration
: Gerbil on wheel. Once a week? Once a month? Once a day? Three times a day? Same result…not going anywhere!
Testimony (Text) continues about where disciples were at.
Jesus exposes where they were really at.
Verse 26, ”
O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoke! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory
?
Application
: The second thought for our consideration is where they (disciples) and where we (today) really need to go.
II.
Where Do I really need/want to Go?
We need to go to the Scriptures!
Luke 24:27
“And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.”
(NKJ)
Question
: Where do I need to go now….today? Where am I going to find help/solution/support for:
III.
How Am I going to get there
“Breaking of bread”
= Fellowship, communion, intimacy. Their Eyes were opened!
4. ‘Protected the Burn’ – Luke 24:32
“And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”
(NKJ)
5. Rose up the next day and returned to Jerusalem
6. Found Others (the 11)
7. Declared and Testified to/of the Christ
Conclusion
: Where are you/we at today? Now that the lilies have been put away and the Easter Sunday clothes, etc…..now what?

Word to the Wise
Introduction: Let me finish my thoughts on Matthew 8-10. Jesus is moved for the people and to send disciples/others into the whitened harvest field. Jesus does give additional instructions and awareness of lays before them. Question: Why did Jesus not send the disciples to Gentiles and Samaritans? In Romans 1:16 Paul writes, “I am not…
Author and Authorization
Matthew 10:1-15 Introduction: This is where I left off last week. Because there is a ripen harvest prepared by God himself… Jesus says, 9:38, ‘So pray, to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into the fields.’ Pray =Ask =Send = thrust forth – ‘The harvest is…
The Lost – A Whitened Harvest
Introduction: Last week I spoke about what the oil running down Aaron’s beard was all about. It was about the separation of objects and especially people for God’s use. Transition: In the Book of Matthew, after Jesus taught about matters like praying, not judging others, the ‘golden rule’, the problem with worrying, and some other…
Oil on Aaron’s Beard
Psalm 133:1-2; Lev. 8:10-12 Introduction: Some of you may have heard or studied this image in scripture of oil soaking Aaron’s beard and dripping down all the way to his toes. This comes from Psalm 133:1-2 & Leviticus 8:10-12. I sensed the Lord was putting this in my heart and mind and what the significance…
