Romans 5:1-11
Romans: Considered Paul’s ‘Masterpiece.’
Context: Paul transitions/moves from the theme of having faith in God’s promises (4:18-25) to Enjoying what Righteousness Provides.
Transition: The first verse of chapter 5 makes a resounding entrance.
- We are made Right.
- At Peace with God – Romans 5:1
James 4:4,
Enmity = hatred/hostility / Enemy
Romans 5:1 ‘Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ’, (NKJ)
Justified = declared righteous (right); pronounced, shown to be.
Righteousness = being made/declared in right standing with God….
Through Faith in/through Christ!

3. Sit at the Table of Privilege (Grace) –Romans 5:2
‘He has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand.’
‘Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6)
In Exodus 34:6, when God shows himself to Moses, we read, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.”
Transition: This place/position of grace breeds confidence and joy.
4. Confident / Hopeful / Joyful (NLT) – Also 5:2
