Introduction: Here’s a list of individuals and groups that Jesus personally took time to minister to, based on the accounts in the Gospels. This includes one-on-one encounters and instances where He intentionally reached out to specific people.
- The Sick and Suffering
The Paralytic (Mark 2:1–12) – Lowered through the roof by friends; Jesus forgave his sins and healed him.
The Woman with the Issue of Blood (Mark 5:25–34) – Healed after touching His garment; Jesus took time to acknowledge and affirm her faith.
The Man at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1–15) – A man who had been ill for 38 years; Jesus healed him on the Sabbath.
Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46–52) – A beggar outside Jericho whose sight was restored after persistent cries for mercy.
The Ten Lepers (Luke 17:11–19) – Jesus healed them all, though only one returned to give thanks.
The Deaf and Mute Man (Mark 7:31–37) – Jesus healed him privately with compassion and personal touch.
2. The Outcasts and Despised
The Woman Caught in Adultery (John 8:1–11) – Jesus protected her from stoning and urged her to “go and sin no more.”
Zacchaeus the Tax Collector (Luke 19:1–10) – Jesus invited Himself to his house, leading to Zacchaeus’s repentance and restitution.
The Demoniac of the Gerasenes (Mark 5:1–20) – A man possessed by many demons; Jesus freed him and sent him to testify.
Matthew (Levi) the Tax Collector (Matthew 9:9–13) – Jesus called him to discipleship and later dined with other sinners in his home.
The Samaritan Leper (Luke 17:11–19) – The only one who returned to thank Jesus; He commended his faith.
3. The Grieving
Mary and Martha (John 11:1–44) – Jesus comforted them after their brother Lazarus died and raised him from the dead.
The Widow of Nain (Luke 7:11–17) – Jesus raised her only son during the funeral procession out of compassion.
4. The Repentant and the Marginalized
The Sinful Woman (Luke 7:36–50) – Anointed Jesus’ feet with her tears; He forgave her sins and honored her love.
The Thief on the Cross (Luke 23:39–43) – Jesus promised him paradise even as they both hung on crosses.
5. The Spiritually Seeking
Nicodemus (John 3:1–21) – A Pharisee and member of the Jewish ruling council who came to Jesus at night to understand His teachings about being “born again.”
The Samaritan Woman (John 4:1–42) – Jesus spoke with her at Jacob’s well, revealing His identity as the Messiah and offering “living water.”
6. His Followers and Disciples
Peter (John 21:15–19) – After Peter’s denial, Jesus personally restored him, reaffirming his role as a leader.
Mary Magdalene (John 20:11–18) – The first person to see the risen Jesus; He comforted her by name.
The Twelve Disciples – Jesus spent three years teaching, correcting, and empowering them for ministry.
7. Others
Children (Mark 10:13–16) – Jesus welcomed and blessed them, saying the Kingdom belongs to such as these.
Roman Centurion (Matthew 8:5–13) – Jesus healed his servant and commended his faith.
Canaanite Woman (Matthew 15:21–28) – Jesus rewarded her persistence and healed her daughter.
