Romans 10
I. Great missions people/churches place a heavy emphasis on God’s Salvation plan –
10:1-4
What does it mean to be saved?
What is salvation?

{sode’-zo}

1) to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction 1a) one (from injury or peril) 1a1) to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health 1b1) to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue 1b) to save in the technical biblical sense.
II. Great Missions people/churches have a concern for others
.
10:5-13
You and I are never going to give to missions if we don’t have a concern for others.
“For the son of man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:1-10)
For when we as Christians or we as churches do not take the opportunity to support missions what we are saying is we have no concern for those who are lost.
Application
: I really do believe that our partnership with IBB, Grace Koinonia and Favorday has some deep roots in really having a concern for others.
Transition
: While being concerned is critical, it isn’t enough. We have to be willing to give, pray and go too!
III. Great missions giving people/churches find connecting with needs
–
10:14-15
Application
: You and I will always have needs. This church will always have needs but God does not limit participation in missions to those Christians or those churches who do not have needs.
Compared to the vast majority of the world everyone here today has plenty.
If we were to wait till we had plenty to become a great missions giving church we would never began because there will always be other needs.
Transition
: The last point for our consideration is that great missions people/churches recognize there’s a Harvest and trust the Lord of it.
IV. Great missions recognize a Harvest and the Lord of it.
10:16-21
Luke 10:2
“Then He said to them, “The harvest truly
is
great, but the laborers
are
few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. (NKJ)
When is the best time to start giving to missions?
The best time to start giving to missions is in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel.
We shouldn’t just give when we can.
We shouldn’t just give because we have to.
We shouldn’t just give because others are looking.
Conclusion
: Since the church is always the people and never the building let us take a few moments to ask ourselves the following questions.
Do I have a concern for others?
Do I demonstrate a commitment to missions?
Do I value Salvation?
