Text: Luke 16:10; Matthew 25:21; Lamentations 3:22–23
Introduction: Church, today I want to preach a simple word, but it is a weighty word.
I want to preach about faithfulness.
Not talent.
Not charisma.
Not giftedness.
Not emotion.
Not hype.
Not moments.
But faithfulness.
Application: And one of the dangers in the church is that we can begin to call ourselves faithful when what we really have is inconsistency with a few good moments mixed in.
We pray sometimes.
We obey sometimes.
We forgive sometimes.
We worship sometimes.
We serve sometimes.
We stand strong sometimes.
But hear me clearly today:
Sometimes is not faithfulness.
I said, sometimes is not faithfulness.
- If your car only started sometimes, you would not call it faithful
- If your alarm clock only rang sometimes, you would not call it faithful.
- If your phone only worked sometimes, you would not call it faithful.
- If your internet is only connected sometimes, you would not call it faithful.
- If a bridge only held weight sometimes, nobody would trust it.
- If a seatbelt only worked sometimes, nobody would praise it.
- If a parachute only opened sometimes, nobody would jump with confidence.
- If a doctor only showed up for surgery sometimes, nobody would call him dependable.
- If a friend only stood by you sometimes, you would not call that faithful friendship.
- If a spouse were only loyal sometimes, nobody would call that faithful love.
- Faithfulness Guaranteed
The Bible says in Lamentations 3:22–23, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Application: Aren’t you glad God is not faithful only sometimes?
Aren’t you glad God does not answer prayer sometimes and abandon you other times?
Aren’t you glad God does not keep His promises only when He feels like it?
Aren’t you glad God does not love you only on your good days?
Aren’t you glad God does not show mercy only when your record looks clean?
No, God is faithful.
- Faithfulness Rewarded
In Matthew 25:21, the Master says, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Notice He does not say, “Well done, successful servant.”
He does not say, “Well done, famous servant.”
He does not say, “Well done, impressive servant.”
He does not say, “Well done, influential servant.”
He says, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
That means heaven celebrates something different from what earth celebrates.
Earth celebrates the platform.
God celebrates faithfulness.
Earth celebrates noise.
God celebrates steadiness.
Earth celebrates being seen.
God celebrates being trustworthy.
Application: You may never be famous, but you can be faithful.
You may never have a platform, but you can be faithful.
You may never lead thousands, but you can be faithful.
You may never be known by the world, but you can be known in heaven as faithful.

Getting Closer to God (James 4:1–10) 1. Recognize What Pulls You Away (vv. 1–3) James says the real problem isn’t external — it’s internal. “What causes fights and quarrels among you?
